Since 2017, we have provided welding certification services to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, along with guidance to improve and support their welding program at Federal Island. The training they offer to inmates leads to a professional certification that enables them to find jobs in welding, including joining trades unions that hire certified welders.

In the welding industry, being certified is critical not only to enter the workforce but also to obtain higher-paying jobs. We thank Mike Rosalez, department lead, and his team at Terminal Island for continuing to fund this program each year. Their ongoing support is helping to supply the industry with a qualified workforce across the country and is making a meaningful difference in many lives.
