Overview

This bundle prepares students for careers as Underwater Welders (Dry Welders), equipping them to perform welding and repairs below the surface on offshore structures, ships, and pipelines. 

Program Duration: 48 classes, 384 hours of welding training (24 weeks)

  • W109 – SMAW AWS D3.6 Underwater Dry Welding (Class A Welds)
  • W103 – SMAW AWS D1.1 / L.A. City Welder Certification Structural Steel Pipe/Tubular
  • W205 – GTAW Advanced ASME Section IX, AWS B2.1 Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel Pipe Welding

The objective of this career builder bundle is to give students the skills necessary for employment as underwater welders (dry welding), ensuring they understand the protocols for welding in aquatic environments. Additional wet welding training is necessary to become a fully qualified underwater welder and is not offered by the California Welding Institute.
